Mr. Razi Fakih is a senior Islamic banking professional with over 25 years of experience and an accomplished track record of success in the industry. He is recognised thought leader in the area of Islamic Finance with leading roles at HSBC Amanah and Bank Al Bilad. He is a Chartered Accountant from the the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Mr. Razi led diverse business lines with cross continental exposure in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Overseen a range of businesses and functions in the banking sector including retail, wealth management, corporate banking, debt capital markets, private banking, treasury and risk management. He has successful track record in building new businesses, driving business forward to achieve quantum growth in financial performance as well as turning around organisation with poor infrastructure. He is a strategic thinker with a strong execution capability and an ability to garner resources to achieve goals.
Mr. Razi has been with HSBC for over 12 years in different roles. He is one of the founding members of HSBC Amanah with responsibility to set up Islamic Debt Capital Market franchise of HSBC Amanah. In November 2000, tasked with the responsibility for setting up Islamic banking services in Saudi Arabia at the Saudi British Bank. In April 2004, took over as the Global Head of Retail and Corporate Banking to establish Amanah franchise in several markets. In July 2006 took over as the Acting CEO of HSBC Amanah and then Deputy CEO of HSBC Amanah with responsiblility for the performance of HSBC Amanah globally for four years.
Prior to his position at HSBC, he held the role of Deputy CEO at Bank Al Bilad in Saudi Arabia for two years and Acting CEO at Islamic Investment Company of the Gulf for 6 years.
